‘Actors On a Journey’ A Special Trip with Yim Siwan and Jung Hae-in Begins (Updated)

Starting from August 23rd, 2023, two actors of the same age, Yim Siwan (ZE:A) and Jung Hae In, have been confirmed to appear in the broadcast of “Actors On a Journey: A Journey Between 88s” (working title)!
Wait, are Yim Siwan and Jung Hae-in friends?
You might be wondering. Well, actually, it was in the spotlight when Hae-in posted a snapshot with Siwan on his Instagram on October 9th, 2022.
Certainly, they don’t seem to be old friends like Yim Siwan and Park Hyung-Sik, who had been friends since ZE:A days, but it seems they became close friends recently.
In a recent DP2 interview, Haein talked about the upcoming show ‘Actors On a Journey’ with Siwan.
Though I haven’t known Siwan for a very long time, we’ve spent some times where we could talk about various things.
We’ve become dependable on each other and shared moments of courage… When we sit down and talk over a drink, I find that Siwan is honest and refreshing.
There are parts of us that are similar, and our conversations flow well, so we’ve become close.
How nice! I hope they remain good friends for a long time!

Just having these two appear together on this show already raises fans’ expectations.

This time, they’re traveling to Scotland.
Siwan, who is avid traveller and a lover of whisky, has a dream to “take a distillery tour of Scotch whisky, the largest whisky-producing region in the world.”
Since he mentioned enjoying various alcoholic beverages in a past interview during “Emergency Declaration”, he seems to know how to enjoy a whisky trip.
And then there’s Jung Hae-in, who loves golf (though he didn’t claim to be good at it).
Going to Scotland, the birthplace of golf, is “the dream of all golfers.”
He says that even just visiting a golf course without playing would be great.
Interestingly, Siwan also loves golf, so in this show, we might get to see the two of them enjoying golf ⛳️️together. Their match is a close call (Wait, is this BTS’s V (Taehyung)? Are these two golf buddies?!)

Theme of the Trip: “8” for Those Born in 1988?!
These two actors repeatedly emphasize that they were born in the same year, 1988.
But that’s not all! In fact, they are perfectly 8 months apart in age.
Moreover, even the writers and directors responsible for the show are also born in 1988!
With the entire production team being of the same age as the two main faces, this show is destinant to be about the number, 8…
So, they put their hearts into coming up with a theme centered around the number 8 for the trip.
Oh? Is that why there are 8 episodes starting in August(8)? I wonder if this was intentional or just a coincidence, haha.
What happens on the Journey of Two People Opposite in MBTI?
For Korean drama fans, you are likely familiar with MBTI. MBTI is a test that helps individuals understand their tendencies and personality traits, revealing how they perceive the world, make decisions, and gain energy in their daily lives.
Developed by American psychologists based on the work of psychologist Carl Jung, it’s widely used, and it’s currently trending in South Korea.
If you understand Korean, you can take a test on the official website of “Dr. Romantic” Season 3 to find out which character you resemble.
Returning to the main topic, Siwan and Hae-in’s MBTI types are complete opposites!
Siwan is an ENFJ “Protagonist” (similar to Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, and Sean Connery).
ENFJ – Protagonist
Idealistic and caring, protagonists strive to have a positive impact on others and the world. They rarely shy away from opportunities to do what is right, even if it’s not an easy task. Natural leaders, many notable politicians, coaches, and teachers have this personality type. Passionate and charismatic, protagonists inspire people in various areas of life, not just in their work. Haein is an ISTP “Virtuoso” (similar to actor Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise, and Michael Jordan).

First, Hae In is ready to follow Siwan’s lead from the beginning!
If Siwan were Hae-In’s manager, it seems like all he needs to do is follow Siwan’s plans without much thought!
On the other hand, Siwan takes the lead while Hae-in goes on the trip without any plans.

Before seeing some of the footages, I thought the older brother character, Hae In, will be leading Siwan. But actually, Hae-in might be the kind of older brother who would say, “You want to do that?! Sure, okay, let’s go!” and lets Siwan have fun, and likes going with the flow.

By the way, the place where the two had a preliminary meeting before going to Scotland is Jungsik Cafe, a Michelin-starred restaurant, or perhaps “The Balvenie Bar” in the same building.
Though Google Maps in Korea isn’t the best, the address appears as “11 Seolleung-ro 158-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.”

Are Yim Siwan and Jung Haein both love to drink?
Siwan is known for becoming incredibly cute when he drinks and is recognized as a lover of alcohol.
In an interview, he mentioned enjoying tasting different types of alcohol and drinking with his friend, Park Hyung-sik.
The moment I completely fell for Siwan was when he appeared on the variety show “Life Bar,” got pleasantly drunk, and sang songs endlessly.
Siwan continues to sing while being adored by senior figures in the entertainment industry.
Being a former idol, he takes his singing seriously.
As for Haein, he’s recognized for his love for beer.
Just before COVID-19 hit in 2019, he traveled to New York with his friends and “Jung Hae In’s Travel log,” which was released in March 2020, showed his dedication to beer.
(He’s often seen drinking beer in drama scenes, but apparently, he’s not a fan of soju.)

How’s Yim Siwan and Jung Haein’s English Skills?!
Siwan is actually improving his English skills as he portrays a Korean American in the movie “Emergency Declaration.”
Originally, he had no plans to enter the entertainment industry and was a diligent student, serving as a school president for six years in middle and high school.
With a strong image of excelling at everything, he entered the engineering department of Busan University, one of the top universities in Busan.
He has a level of free-talking English, but with more complex topics, he might seem a bit uncertain. However, his pronunciation seems really good!
Considering the rumors about Siwan being cast in Netflix’s popular series “Squid Game 2,” we can expect more international activities from him.
Now, onto Hae In’s English.
If you watch “Jung Haein’s travel log: I Love New York,” released in 2019, you’ll see many scenes of him speaking in English.
Despite making some mistakes, he confidently talks to people, which is impressive. He can even answer interviews to some extent.
Where would ‘Actors on a Trip’ be streamed?
The program “Actors on a Trip: 88’s Journey Together” is scheduled to be broadcast on JTBC starting from August 23rd at 11:50 PM, spanning 8 episodes.
It’s incredible that there will be 8 episodes, such happiness!
However, it seems that the broadcasting details for Japan have not been announced yet.
While researching various sources, I found news that has also been posted on Japan’s Netflix.
In Korea, the show is scheduled to be broadcast on JTBC, so there is a growing expectation that it might be available on Netflix as well.
JTBC and Netflix have entered into a multi-year contract towards delivering high-quality Korean TV dramas. Starting from 2020, this partnership allows Netflix to stream JTBC’s prime-time TV dramas to over 190 countries. With this new agreement, JTBC and Netflix will jointly produce and introduce JTBC’s prime-time TV dramas on a global scale. They will also be able to select and deliver exceptional drama series from JTBC’s lineup to the world.

The next project is the movie “Veteran 2,” a sequel to the 2015 hit film “Veteran,” which attracted an audience of 13 million.
Hae In will play the youngest detective, Park Sung-woo, in the crime action movie depicting a new crisis for the Veteran Criminal Investigation Team.
The filming finished in April 2023, so the release might be around the end of the year.

He’s being cautious in selecting his next melodrama. Personally, I think he would match well with Park Eun-bin, Park Bo-young, and Shin Se-kyung.

With Siwan and Haein’s constant interactions in this project, there will be a lot of opportunities to see their casual side and their friendship.
